Family-friendly festivals in France for a magical summer with the kids

By Published Updated 4 min read

While summer marks the return of festivals in France, they are no longer just for adults. Many now offer children’s areas, age-appropriate shows, creative workshops, and immersive experiences designed for all ages. Music, street performances, fantasy worlds, giant games, and outdoor shows… Today, there are festivals that can spark the imagination of the whole family. Whether you’re on vacation by the sea, in the countryside, or in the city, here’s a selection of family-friendly festivals across France to create wonderful memories with the kids.

Creative festivals and street arts

Chalon dans la Rue – Burgundy-Franche-Comté

With its street performances, contemporary circus acts, and immersive productions, this festival transforms the streets into a life-size adventure. Children love watching the performers up close and being surprised by performances that are sometimes funny, sometimes poetic, but always impressive. An excellent choice for an accessible and lively cultural outing:

Aurillac Festival – Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Every summer, the entire city of Aurillac transforms into a massive open-air stage. Acrobats, giant puppets, street theater, visual performances… Shows pop up on every street corner, immersing children in a fascinating world. Families particularly appreciate the friendly atmosphere and the chance to enjoy free shows throughout the day. A true playground for curious and imaginative children:

Les Accroche-Cœurs – Pays de la Loire

Poetic and colorful, this festival celebrates the imagination through street arts and visual performances. Parades, giant creatures, music, and art installations create an almost magical atmosphere in the streets of Angers that children absolutely love. The festival is completely free and open to everyone. It’s also a very photogenic festival, perfect for families who love creative and fantastical worlds:

Two festivals for little adventurers

Enjoy a variety of mountain activities

Head to the heart of the Massif des Bauges Regional Nature Park for a family getaway in Savoie. Whether for an evening, a day, or a three-day camping adventure, you’ll have plenty of experiences to enjoy (tree climbing, hiking with donkeys or huskies, trying aqua-hiking or via ferrata, or singing in nature…). And that’s not even mentioning the stargazing evenings or the fireside gatherings…

Taking it easy by the river

From July 11 to 13, 2026, head to the base camp in the wild Dunière Valley in Haute-Loire. Here, too, you can take part in a wide range of activities to explore nature, learn, play, and share wonderful experiences. Enjoy supervised workshops, free-access games throughout the festival, and family-friendly activities. Embark on a three-day adventure featuring fishing, canoeing, and foraging…</p>

Between the sea and the ocean: marvel and laugh in Brittany

Theater, circus arts, magic, dance, and singing… all across Brittany, there are unique performances for young audiences and their families. And while summer is the highlight of the season, the show goes on during every school break! The resorts in the Sensation Bretagne network welcome artists to present magical and memorable shows for audiences of all ages.

A festival «For the Kids» Sake"

This aptly named festival is the must-attend event for performances aimed at young children. Renowned internationally, it welcomes artists from around the world to Le Grand-Bornand every year. With shows, workshops, and exhibitions, there’s something for everyone! The village takes on the atmosphere of a giant playground: a wonderful opportunity for children to have one last bit of fun before heading back to school.

Attending your first «Rock en scène» with the family

As summer draws to a close, the Domaine national de Saint-Cloud comes alive to the sounds of pop-rock. On stage, legendary bands, international artists, and others who are less well-known… for now, at least. One of the last festivals before school starts is a great opportunity to extend the summer and introduce your teens to different musical genres. Budding rockers can also check out the activities at Mini Rock while their parents enjoy the concert. This fun space for artistic and cultural discovery welcomes children ages 6 to 11 for free upon registration.

And this is just a glimpse of the wide variety of family-friendly festivals to discover throughout France. By promoting respect for nature and the environment that hosts them, cultural and artistic diversity, and inclusive accessibility, these festivals share Namaki’s values. When it comes to safety, music festivals generally provide earplugs for free or with a purchase. To protect your children’s eardrums, you can also purchase noise-canceling headphones designed for kids. All that’s left is to choose your destination. Enjoy the festival and have a great summer, everyone!
