The end of the school year is approaching and you're looking for activities for the school fête. One of them is the children's make-up stand. Colorful butterflies, impressive tigers, magical unicorns... A few brushstrokes are all it takes to transform children and add a touch of magic to the day. The good news is that organizing a make-up workshop for a fair isn't complicated, as long as you're well prepared. With a few volunteers and make-up adapted to children's skin, this stand will be one of the party's favorite activities. Here are our tips for setting up a successful make-up workshop at a school fair.

Preparing a make-up workshop for the fair

Choosing natural make-up suitable for children's skin

Children's skin is finer and more sensitive than that of adults. It is therefore essential to choose products specially formulated for them. For a make-up workshop at your children's school fête, choose :

natural or organic make-up; ;
dermatologically tested products; ;
formulas that are easy to apply and remove; ;
pigments adapted to sensitive skin.

A quality make-up helps prevent irritation and reassures parents, especially if the party lasts all day. Remember, too, a few simple rules of hygiene:

use clean brushes; ;
clean sponges regularly; ;
Provide hydroalcoholic gel for volunteers; ;
do not apply make-up to children with irritated or injured skin.

These small gestures ensure a safe and pleasant make-up workshop for all.

Provide the essential equipment for a make-up stand

The main fear of any organizer? Long queues and impatient children. If your stand is well organized, everything runs more smoothly. Here's the basic equipment you'll need:

from blushes for children ;
from pencils make-up ;
from brushes in different sizes; ;
from sponges make-up ;
one or two mirrors ;
cotton and water; ;
hydroalcoholic gel; ;
a stable table and a few chairs.

If possible, get several volunteer make-up artists. With two or three people, the booth becomes much more dynamic. Make-up artists are also entitled to a break every now and then!

💡Time-saving tip: display a small make-up “menu” with simple models. Children choose more easily, and volunteers can get started on make-up more quickly.

Quick and festive make-up ideas

At a fair, it's best to create make-up quickly (2 to 3 minutes), so that everyone can enjoy the experience. The aim isn't to create complex make-ups, but rather quick, colorful creations that will make children's eyes sparkle. Here are a few classics that always work:

The butterfly Colourful and easy to make, it's a big hit with kids. Two wings around the eyes, a little glitter powder and you're done.
The lion : with a little yellow, white and brown, you get a make-up impressive in just a few minutes.
The unicorn The most popular, it combines pastel colors, stars and sequins for a fairy-tale result.
The superhero A simple mask around the eyes lets children play the role of their favorite hero.
The rainbow fast and bright, it can be adapted to any faces and immediately puts you in a good mood.

💡Limit the number of models on offer (5 to 8 maximum) to facilitate choice and speed up make-up application. Nor are you obliged to apply make-up to the whole face. A partial make-up, a crown on the forehead or a bee on the cheek will be just as pretty and effective. Think also of tattoos ephemera to add a little animal or star here and there.

Creating a magical experience for children

The success of a make-up workshop depends not only on the make-up itself, but also on the atmosphere of the stand. A few simple ideas can turn this moment into a real souvenir:

decorate the table with festive colors; ;
display make-up models in photo frames ;
plan a photobooth to immortalize the moment; ;
and why not bring along a few accessories (hats, boas...) for the photo.

The moment when the child discovers his or her made-up face in the mirror is often magical. Smiles, laughter and photo memories are all part of the fun. A make-up workshop is much more than a simple animation: it's a moment of creativity, sharing and wonder for the children.

With a little organization, the right equipment and skin-friendly make-up, this stand can quickly become the must-have attraction at the school party. And who knows? Between a roaring tiger, a glittering unicorn and a multicolored butterfly, the fair could well turn into a veritable "fair". Carnival colors and smiles.
